The College of Engineering, Dean’s Office, its committed in supporting research and development activities to its engineering graduate community. The Research & Graduate Studies Division can provide partial assistance in covering costs that are associated with: academic conferences, national conventions, specialized research opportunities, amongst others.
Funds for travel support are competitive, and funding may be applied to specific eligible costs associated with the activity.

Blackstone LaunchPad students can now develop their entrepreneurial skills through a series of short, 15 minutes, training modules created by TalentLMS.
TalentLMS is an online training platform that offers a series of short, fun, and interactive modules focused on Entrepreneurial Skill Development. From tips on developing an entrepreneurial mindset to advice on building relationships and networking, the modules available through TalentLMS will help you immerse yourself in the world of entrepreneurship - even if you don’t have a business idea or startup! Bridge to the Doctorate
The BD project is open to first-year, STEM doctoral students. This includes senior undergraduate students who will are completing their B.S. degree and who have been accepted into a 麻豆分行 STEM Ph.D. program, qualified M.S. students in their last semester of studies with a confirmed STEM Ph.D. acceptance, and qualified STEM Ph.D. students in their first semester of study. Each two-year fellowship includes a $64,000 stipend plus full tuition and fees, including student health insurance.
Program Qualifications are:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Must have participated in a Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program as an undergraduate. Program participation/certification will be confirmed with the BS degree-granting institution or must have participated in a federally-funded (NSF, NIH, DoD, DoE, etc.) undergraduate research experience prior to B.S. attainment.
- Must have received a Bachelor's degree from an LSAMP campus in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) discipline.
- Must be admitted into a STEM Ph.D. program at 麻豆分行 by early December (for Spring applicants) or early June (for Fall applicants) and have no more than 18 doctoral credit hours. The NSF definition of STEM fields includes mathematics, natural sciences, engineering, computer and information sciences, and the social and behavioral sciences – psychology, economics, sociology, and political science.

Commercial Buildings and Building Energy Code Fellow: U.S. Department of Energy
The Building Technologies Office (BTO) is seeking innovative fellows to participate in U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clean energy initiatives. As a Fellow, you will engage and interact closely with BTO staff and National Laboratory scientists on research, development, and deployment of building energy codes and building performance standards to produce significant energy savings across the built environment. Fellows will experience full immersion in the Building Energy Codes Program (BECP) and Commercial Buildings Integration (CBI) technical projects and activities, interacting with experts in academia, industry, and at the National Labs. Fellows will also engage a diverse mix of state, local, and non-governmental stakeholders. You may also engage with other programs at the Department of Energy and across the Federal government. This Fellowship will last one year, with the opportunity to renew for additional years at the discretion of the sponsoring office.
Stipend and Benefits
BTO offers a competitive stipend for participation in this program determined on an individual basis. This Fellowship also offers a range of additional benefits including: medical, dental, and vision insurance, a local transportation stipend, and Federal holidays. Relocation expenses incurred in relocating from current address to Washington, D.C. or Golden, CO will be reimbursed, in the amount of up to $5,000 (if more than 50 miles from the address shown on the application). Fellows will receive a travel and research allowance of $10,000 per appointment year to cover expenses for scientific and professional development activities. Fellows may be offered an extension for additional years with an increase in stipend and cost of living adjustment. Past Fellows have gone on to take a wide range of permanent positions in industry, academia, and government.

ConTex (UT System in Collaboration with Mexico’s CONAHCYT) Doctoral Fellowship
Convocation can be read
ConTex is a joint initiative of The University of Texas System and Mexico’s Conacyt. Established in 2016, ConTex supports bi-national efforts to enhance academic and research collaborations between Texas and Mexico.
Fellowship covers resident tuition and fees, as well as monthly financial support for up to five years. Applicants for the ConTex fellowship must have Mexican citizenship and must be incoming students or current students in their first or second year of a Ph.D. program. In order to be awarded, students must:
- Register with ConTex
- Apply and be admitted to a Ph.D. program at one of the UT Institutions
- Apply for and obtain a Conacyt scholarship through the Study Abroad Fellowship program

DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship
The Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE CSGF) provides outstanding benefits and opportunities to students pursuing doctoral degrees in fields that use high-performance computing to solve complex science and engineering problems.
The DOE CSGF is open to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents who plan full-time, uninterrupted study toward a Ph.D. at an accredited U.S. university.
Benefits:
- A yearly stipend of $45,000
- Payment of full tuition and required fees during the appointment period (at any accredited U.S. university)
- An annual $1,000 professional development allowance
- Up to four years of total support, depending on renewal

Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellowship
Through its Fellowship Programs, the Ford Foundation seeks to increase the diversity of the nation’s college and university faculties. Administered by the Academies since 1979, these programs provide fellowship support at the predoctoral, dissertation and postdoctoral levels. Eligibility is limited to U.S. citizens, permanent residents and individuals granted deferred action status under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program who can demonstrate superior academic achievement, are committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level, show promise of future achievement as scholars and teachers, and are well prepared to use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students. The Ford Foundation Fellowship Programs offer approximately 70 predoctoral awards, 36 awards for dissertation research and 20 postdoctoral awards each year.

Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship Program (MLEF)
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship (MLEF) Program is a 10-week summer research fellowship for undergraduate and graduate students in STEM majors. Participants complete a cutting-edge research project at one of the Department’s National Laboratories or DOE Headquarters in support of the Department’s mission to minimize the environmental impacts of energy resource recovery and use while working towards net-zero emissions.
Eligibility:
- Be at least 18 years of age at time of application.
- Be a U.S. Citizen.
- Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.8.
- Be currently enrolled full-time as a degree-seeking student in a STEM program at an accredited college/university at the Associate, Bachelor’s, or Master’s level.
- Must be deemed at least a college sophomore by your college/university at the time of application. Must have completed at least one year as a matriculated undergraduate student at the time of applying.
- Be available to participate in the full 10-week program.

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Program (NDSEG)
NDSEG Program Awards Fellowships last for a period of up to three years and provides stipends, prorated monthly based on a 12- month academic year. Stipend amounts are determined for each Fellowship class by the DoD. The monthly stipend is $3,600 ($43,200 annually). Please note that the availability of funds for the second, and third year of each three-year award is contingent upon certification to the DoD awarding agency by the fellow's institution that the fellow has made satisfactory academic progress toward an advanced degree.
The NDSEG fellowship will pay for the minimum health insurance coverage offered through the institution or if the institution requires health insurance coverage but does not offer it the fellow may purchase private insurance, up to a total value of $1,600.
The NDSEG Fellowship is sponsored by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), the Army Research Office (ARO), and the Office of Naval Research (ONR) under the direction of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research & Engineering.

National GEM Consortium Fellowships Program

The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP) provides successful applicants with three years of funding for a research-based Master’s or PhD in an eligible STEM field, which includes social sciences.

NSF GRFP Virtual Summer Boot Camp participants will receive step-by-step guidance to develop the most competitive application possible. They will also gain valuable professional skills development in grant writing.
The NSF GRFP Summer Boot Camp is entirely virtual, and sessions will take place weekly from late July until late August. All sessions will be recorded for those unable to attend synchronously.

US Department of Energy DOE Scholars Program
The DOE Scholars Program provides opportunities designed to introduce DOE missions, functions, and operations to talented undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates. These opportunities will help prepare Scholars towards the full range of entry and mid-level research, technical and professional positions within DOE and other organizations that support the DOE mission.
All financial support and benefits are administered by ORISE.
- Stipend: You will receive a stipend for your living expenses during this educational experience. Payments rates are determined by DOE, and are based on your educational level, skills, and experience. The minimum stipend for undergraduates is $700/week and $750/week graduate students and recent graduates.
- Inbound/Outbound Travel Reimbursement: Transportation expenses for up to $1,000 for participants who relocate more than fifty miles, one-way, from the assigned hosting site.

Minority Educational Institution Student Partnership Program (MEISPP) by the Department of Energy (DOE)
The Minority Educational Institution Student Partnership Program (MEISPP) can provide you with a great summer learning experience within the Department of Energy (DOE). MEISPP offers 12-week assignments from May through August. The first two weeks are a virtual “MEISPP Prep” course to get you ready for your summer assignment. The MEISPP Prep is part time and culminates in an in-person orientation at DOE headquarters in Washington, D.C. Some assignments may continue during the academic year.
Eligibility:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be a U.S. citizen (permanent residents and green card holders are ineligible).
- Be a current full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at, or a recent graduate from an eligible Minority Serving Institution (MSI).

Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP)
The Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP) provides an opportunity for college students to participate in research at a Department of Navy (DoN) laboratory.
Award duration is a continuous 10 weeks.
NREIP offers a competitive stipend for its interns.
- New undergraduate student participants: $7,500
- Returning undergraduate students (students MUST have completed a full 10-week program in a prior year to receive this level): $9,000
- Graduate students (students must currently be in graduate school and taking graduate school courses to receive this level): $11,500
Eligibility
- Enrolled at a four-year U.S. college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education; students attending two-year colleges who meet the credit hour requirements may be eligible at the laboratory’s discretion
- University sophomores, juniors, seniors or graduate students; freshmen who have reached the credit level of a sophomore before starting the internship are also eligible
- Studying in a program of study that is relevant to the research interests of the participating laboratories

The mission of the Minority Serving Institution Partnership Program (MSIPP) is to create and support a sustainable career pathway that prepares a diverse workforce of talented students to make immediate and significant contributions to the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE).

BRIDGE Program
The BRIDGE program is a multi-institutional research training program (Pitt Bioengineering, Carnegie Mellon Mechanical Engineering, DoD National Laboratories) designed to increase the participation in higher education of individuals historically underrepresented in science and engineering. Barriers often limiting the access of underrepresented students to graduate programs are the lack of hands-on research experience and the lack of information about the professional value of advanced degrees. BRIDGE will dismantle these barriers by providing in-depth research training in topics of relevance to the Department of Defense (DoD): robotics, artificial intelligence, and neural engineering. As a result, the student will not only gain extensive research experience and appreciate the impact of science on real-world applications, but the participant will fulfill enough research hours and courses to earn a Master’s (with a Research Thesis).
BRIDGE training will facilitate the transition between undergraduate and graduate education, which will serve as a critical first step towards pursuing a Ph.D. Students participating in the BRIDGE program will gain the experience, knowledge, and self-confidence to excel at any research university despite previous academic opportunities. Our BRIDGE program will also provide professional development training, including technical writing, oral communication, and ethic, as well as internship experiences with future employers.

Full financial support is provided for qualified applicants including full tuition, monthly stipend, health benefits, travel and supplies.

BUILDing SCHOLARS Undergraduate Scholarship
A prestigious research-intensive training program, funded by the National Institutes of Health and reserved for students with a strong motivation to become researchers in biomedical, social, behavioral or health sciences or biomedical engineering. Areas of emphasis include: addiction, cancer, environmental health, health disparities, infectious diseases, neurodegenerative and chronic diseases and translational biomedicine.
In addition to their course work and research/mentoring activities at 麻豆分行, undergraduate students will conduct summer research at one of 10 partner institutions, many of which will reserve positions for BUILDing SCHOLARS graduates to pursue their Ph.D. degrees upon completion of the program.

DoD HBCU/MI Summer Research Internship Program
Is a program that offers a unique research opportunity for current students and recent graduates from STEM and DoD-relevant disciplines at HBCUs and MIs. By providing a vital link between academic learning and practical application, the program aims to cultivate a diverse pool of minority scientists and engineers who may pursue careers within the DoD. During the internship, participants gain hands-on experience at DoD facilities at the forefront of innovation and can apply this knowledge to further their educational and professional aspirations.
Benefits:
- Participants will receive a stipend of $1400/week, paid bi-weekly.
- The program will provide a dislocation payment of $800.00 to help with relocation expenses, including baggage fees, taxi/uber services, meals, tolls, transportation to and from the airport, etc.
- The program will coordinate travel to and from the lab (at the beginning) and the lab (at the end) of the research period. The coordinated travel may be by airplane or train. The program administrator will book travel; selected interns should NOT book travel.
- Housing is provided and will be coordinated by the program.
- All selected interns are required to attend the Intern Seminar, which will be held in Arlington, VA, on July 10 -11, 2025. The program will book travel and hotel rooms for all selected interns.

Minority Educational Institution Student Partnership Program- DOE-MEISPP
The MEISPP is designed to provide talented undergraduate and graduate students and recent graduates with internships that introduce them to a variety of entry and mid-level research, technical and professional positions within the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and its national laboratories. Interns will help support the DOE mission of discovering solutions to power and secure America’s future.
Benefits
Interns are provided a stipend and various allowances to support them during the internship. The allowances vary with the cost of living at the location and with the mode of participation (in-person or virtual).
Basic Stipend:
- Undergraduate students: $750/week
- Graduate students: $950/week
In-person Internship Allowances:
- Travel: You will be reimbursed up to $1,000 for inbound/outbound transportation expenses from your current address to the assigned location if the distance is over 50 miles.
- Housing: If you relocate more than 50 miles one-way from your current location, you will be eligible for a weekly housing supplement to offset expenses associated with housing during the internship.
- Commute: A $50/week supplement will be provided to offset the cost of commuting to and from your internship site.

NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU)
REU program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in the study areas funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). REU Sites meaningfully engage groups of about 10 to 12 students in ongoing research programs or in research projects designed for the REU program.

This yearlong series of workshops and mentoring activities for sophomores, juniors and seniors is aimed at providing mentoring and support for undergraduates interested in graduate education. The intent of the GMiS Scholars Program is to increase the persistence to graduation among underrepresented and underserved STEM college students. The Program Award for Technical and Higher-Education (PATH), sponsored by National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), offers scholarships to students from Minority Serving Institutions pursuing a technical certificate, or an associate, bachelor, or graduate degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM)-discipline that supports the critical needs of the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). The NSE has a wide array of critical needs that range from technical expertise and skilled trades to STEM research. Important areas of research include nuclear security, advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity, engineering, and energy systems. PATH is committed to serving diverse populations, providing education and programs that serve students with unique backgrounds, circumstances, needs, notions, and beliefs.

- Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited Minority Serving Institution during the 2024-25 academic year

Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program
The SULI program encourages undergraduate students and recent graduates to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers by providing research experiences at the Department of Energy (DOE) laboratories. Selected students participate as interns appointed at one of 17 participating DOE laboratories/facilities. They perform research, under the guidance of laboratory staff scientists or engineers, on projects supporting the DOE mission.
The SULI program is sponsored and managed by the DOE Office of Science’s, Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) in collaboration with the DOE laboratories/facilities.
Benefits
- Research interns spend 10 weeks (summer term) or 16 weeks (semester term) at a DOE laboratory engaged in a research project under the guidance of a laboratory scientist or engineer.
- Host laboratories provide enrichment activities, including career professional development workshops (e.g. technical and scientific writing skills development, poster, or oral presentation activities, etc.), laboratory tours, scientific lectures and seminars.
- Host laboratories provide all required site specific training.
- Participants receive a stipend of $650 per week during the appointment.
- Selected students are reimbursed for one round trip domestic travel to the host laboratory (if permanent address is more than 50 miles from the host laboratory). Transportation expenses will be reimbursed on the basis of the most direct route.
- Housing information will be provided to interns prior to arrival at the host laboratory.

SHPE Scholarships
ScholarSHPE provides opportunities for:
- Graduating high school seniors beginning a STEM undergraduate career at a community college or 4-year university.
- Undergraduate students pursuing a degree in STEM at any stage of their undergraduate career. Students must be enrolled full-time at a community college or 4-year university.
- Students or professionals pursuing technical certificates or graduate-level professional education that increase their professional competencies with select institutions.
- Graduate students pursuing a master's or doctoral STEM degree program at an accredited university.
The minimum requirements for all scholarships are as follows:
- Active SHPE Member (To become an active member, please visit and select “Join” in the top right hand corner of the webpage.)
- Minimum Cumulative GPA: 2.5
- Pursue a STEM degree

Spectrum Scholars Program
Spectrum Scholars is an educational program for eligible rising college juniors with financial need. The annual program awards college students $20,000 each, half during their junior year and half during their senior year. In addition, students are paired with a Charter mentor and have the opportunity for a paid internship with the company.
Winning students are eligible for:
- $20,000 scholarship ($10k paid during Junior Year, $10k paid during Senior Year)
- Being paired with a Charter Communications Mentor (Director Level and up)
- An opportunity for a paid internship with the Company

STARS Scholarship Fund
Stars Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to academically talented and highly motivated students who intend to pursue full-time undergraduate, graduate or doctoral degrees.
All applicants are required to meet the following criteria before applying for this scholarship:
- Be a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551.
- Be a permanent resident (5 or more consecutive years) of and have a permanent South or West Texas address in one of our 30 counties.
- Have earned/completed at least 12 undergraduate credit hours at a U.S. accredited college or university before applying for the scholarship (Dual and Advanced Placement credits accepted.).
- Have a minimum college cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale.
- Have completed a high school diploma or its equivalent prior to the Fall of the new academic year.
- Are enrolled in a U.S. accredited 2 yr. community college (enrolled part-time or full-time) in a degree-seeking program, or a 4yr. university undergraduate program (enrolled full-time) seeking a Bachelor’s Degree, or a university graduate program (enrolled full-time) seeking a Master’s, Law or Doctorate degree
